Mr. Michael Powell, a 3rd-year graduate student in the Oestreich Laboratory, presented his work in poster format, entitled “Cooperative Activities between STAT3 and Ikaros Zinc Finger Transcription Factors Regulate Bcl-6 Expression in CD4+ T Helper Cells” at the American Association of Immunologists (AAI) annual meeting held in Washington DC.
Dr. Kenneth Oestreich and Ms. Kaitlin Read hosted a session for “VTC Camp”, run by the Science Museum of Western Virginia and hosted at VTCRI. The session included a brief lesson on our work, as well as the playing of an immunology trading card-based game designed and created by Dr. Oestreich and Ms. Read.

Dr. Oestreich and third-year TBMH Graduate Student Michael Powell received a 2016 Careers in Immunology Fellowship through the American Association of Immunologists (AAI). This award will provide salary support for Mr. Powell for his project, “Identification of Novel Transcription Factors That Regulate the Expression of Bcl-6 and the TFH and TCM Gene Programs”, which seeks to provide molecular building blocks to inform the development of novel immunotherapeutics.
