Volunteers needed for simulated workplace and e-cig study

Recruiting 18-65 daily cigarette smokers for 6 session confidential research study. Participants will receive compensation up to $460 (based on the extent of participation)

Participation Involves:

  • Confidential Urine tests for drugs of abuse and pregnancy
  • Surveys about smoking habits and preferences
  • Computerized purchasing tasks
  • Use of an E-cigarette
  • Travel compensation to Roanoke or Blacksburg may be provided

THIS IS NOT A TREATMENT STUDY.

Women who are pregnant or lactating are ineligible.

Sessions available Monday-Friday 8am-8pm. Mornings, evenings and weekends as needed.

Electronic Cigarette Unit Price Manipulations in the Experimental Tobacco Marketplace

Adults needed for a compensated research study involving dual users of cigarettes and e-cigarettes. If you qualify, participation involves:

  •  3 sessions lasting 1-2 hours
  • Sampling and using e-cigarette products
  • Computerized assessments

Compensation of $220 provided for study completion. Travel compensation may be provided.

Opioid Users Needed for Research Study

Do you currently take opioid pills like OxyContin, Percocet, Lortab, or Vicodin recreationally (for non-medical reasons)? You may be eligible for a 2-session, confidential research study!

Participation involves:

  • Surveys and behavioral tasks
  • Questions regarding drug & alcohol use

Compensation ranges from $10 – $100, based on extent of participation. This is not a treatment study. Pregnant/lactating females will be excluded.

Abuse Liability of Reduced Nicotine Content Cigarettes 2

Volunteers ages 18-65 needed for an 6-session confidential cigarette smoking study. Compensation up to $215 (based on extent of participation).

Participation involves:

  • Screening questions
  • Sessions lasting approximately 1.5 hours
  • Smoking and cognitive tasks

THIS IS NOT A TREATMENT STUDY. Females who are pregnant, lactating, or may become pregnant are excluded.

Smokers Needed for Confidential Study

Volunteers over 18 years old needed for a 10-session confidential research study
involving surveys about smoking habits and computerized purchasing tasks.

Pregnant women are excluded. You will also be given cigarettes to smoke
throughout the study.

Participation involves:

  • Confidential breath and urine tests for tobacco and pregnancy
  • Surveys about smoking habits and preferences
  • Computerized purchasing tasks
  • Use of commercially available cigarettes: ventilated or unventilated

Compensation of $40-$500 provided based on the extent of participation.

Theta burst TMS as a tool to change smoking behavior

Adults 18-55 needed for one time research study examining future thinking in cigarette smokers.

If you qualify, participation involves:

  • 1 session lasting ~3-4 hours
  • Receiving magnetic pulses to stimulate regions of the brain
  • Computerized Assessments
  • Being asked to imagine and describe past or future events

Compensation up to $95 based on participation

Travel compensation may be provided.

Participate in a research study about decision making using TMS

This is a research study aiming to assess the effects of transcranial magnetic brain stimulation (TMS) on decision-making and craving in obese individuals.

What is TMS? TMS is a non-invasive procedure involving magnetic pulses to stimulate regions of your brain. TMS is safe and FDA approved. No medication or anesthesia required. TMS is a minimal risk procedure.

If you qualify, participation involves:

  • Transcranial magnetic brain stimulation
  • Computerized assessments
  • MRI Scans
  • Eye-blink Measurements
  • Food Consumption
  • Participation involves 6 sessions
  • Each Session last 1-3 hours
  • Compensation ranges from $30-$320 based on extent of participation
  • This is not a treatment study
  • All information is confidential
  • Travel Compensation to Roanoke may be provided
  • If you qualify, total compensation based on extent of study participation
  • Must be 18-55 years of age
  • Must be eligible for fMRI scanning and brain stimulation
  • Pregnant females will be excluded

Episodic Future Thinking in Cocaine Users

Adults 18-65 needed for a one-session confidential research study to examine decision-making and craving in individuals who use cocaine.

  • Participation involves:
  • A single session lasting up to 3 hours
  • Decision making computerized tasks,
  • Questionnaires about cravings and preferences
  • Future-thinking task.

Compensation ranges from $10-$50 based on extent of participation. Travel compensation to Roanoke may be provided. Appointments available Monday-Friday 8am-8pm and weekends as needed.

Participation involves:

  • Surveys, behavioral tasks & questions regarding drug use.

Compensation up to $25. Travel compensation may also be available. This is not a treatment study.
